MJA Recent News

  • The 2023 Frank Morris Outstanding Member of the Year award was awarded posthumously to Jeffrey Smith.  Jeff's wife Diane accepted the award on behalf of our dear friend Jeff at the annual meeting held on January 13, 2024.  Jeff was an accomplished musician, band director, and adjudicator and an outstanding member of MJA.
  • Our deepest sympathies are extended to Jeffrey Smith's family and friends. Jeff was a positive influence on many of us in the marching arts. His career in music expanded over decades of his continued education and giving back to our communities. Jeff will be sorely missed but NEVER forgotten.
  • Welcome to our newest judges in training: Visual-Cynthia Bernard, Bert Serrano, Lori McBride, Dylan Nauss, Laura Flynn-Ottersburg & Chuck Paincheaud. Music: Raymond Fallen, Kevin Lam, & Michael Wyatt
  • We are pleased to welcome Lee Beddis to the association as our percussion consultant who will work directly with our Music Caption Head Tom Lizotte. You can find Lee's bio by clicking this link: https://www.yamaha.com/artists/leebeddis.html
  • Congratulations for all the hard work and dedication to our very own Kathy Kerrins for receiving the "Joe Ricci Volunteer of the Year" from the Boston Crusaders/Inspire Arts program. It is great to know that as humble as Kathy is, that she received such an honor. Kudos Kathy and well deserved!
  • A BIG Thank You to the 7 adjudicators who participated in the USBANDS Summer Symposium in Mystic CT on July 29th 2023 representing MJA in great fashion. Shirlee Doherty, Eric Kitchenman, and Ginny Kraft put on a very robust and informative session. Myself, Dom Ferrara, Mike Guertin, Jeff Stewart, Kristin O'Melia, Adam Twombly, and Kevin Lam were on site and focussed on the adaption of the USBANDS Fall sheets as well as the upcoming fall season.
  • The E-board is on summer hiatus until our next board meeting on Wednesday 09/13/2023. Please be sure to continue to develop your adjudicator skills, review NESBA's new Fall Band Sheets, and participate in as much as you can to hone your craft. If you have any questions, comments or concerns Joel is available just reach out.
  • Please watch our active 2023 calendar for some more opportunities to get engaged, and further develop your acumen.
