Thomas LaPointe has been involved in percussion since 1996 when he became a member of Biddeford High School Marching Band as a 7th grader. After high school Thomas marched two seasons with the East Coast Jazz Drum & Bugle Corps (2002, 2003). 

Thomas started his teaching career in 2003 when he returned to Biddeford High School to be a battery tech. In 2004 he took over as the percussion caption head at Biddeford. He was at Biddeford through the 2005 season. In 2006 he was a battery tech at Old Orchard Beach High School, but returned to Biddeford High School in 2007-2009. 

Thomas became the percussion caption head / battery arranger at Westbrook High School in 2011. During his time at Wesbrook, percussion ended every season in MBDA with a 5 star rating in percussion. Thomas was one of the founding members of the Winter Percussion program at Westbrook and they won a NESBA championship in 2019 in Scholastic Marching A Class. His last season at Westbrook was the winter season of 2022. 

Thomas is now focused on arranging battery scores and judging percussion.
