Charles A. Poole, Jr. began his musical career in 1957 in Connecticut as a percussion student of former world champion individual snare drummer, Robert Redican. During the course of his performing years Mr. Poole was awarded the Connecticut and Northeastern States Individual Snare Drum Championships in 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969. Additionally, he won the All American National Snare Drum Individual Championship in 1968, 1970 and 1971. He performed with the award winning championship percussion section of the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps in 1970 and 1971.


Mr. Poole received his BA in Political Science from Boston College in 1973, Juris Doctorate from New England School of Law in 1977, and Masters in Music Education from Boston University in 2008.


Mr. Poole has taught, arranged for and adjudicated marching bands, drum corps, and percussion ensembles throughout the United States, Canada and Japan. He has served as an adjudicator for Drum Corps International, Drum Corps Associates, Winter Guard International, New England Scholastic Band Association, Maine Band Directors Association, United States Scholastic Band Association, and Bands of America. He has arranged for and instructed numerous drum corps and marching bands throughout the Northeast.


Among his arranging and instructional credits are the following: 27th Lancers of Revere, Massachusetts 1977-1986; East Coast Jazz, Malden Massachusetts 2005 DCI Division 2 Champions and 2005 and 2006 Division 2 Percussion Champions, and Program Coordinator for the1994 27th Lancer Reunion Corps.


For the past twenty years Mr. Poole has been a member of the music faculty of the Everett Public Schools as an instrumental teacher, as well as holding the positions of Marching Band Director and Percussion Ensemble Director. Under his tutelage, the Everett Crimson Tide Percussion Ensemble has won numerous awards, including multiple-time New England Scholastic Band Association and Winter Guard International Regional Championships.


Mr. Poole is a member of the World Drum Corps, Drum Corps International and Massachusetts Drum Corps Halls of Fame and is a clinician and signature artist with the Pro-Mark Drum Stick, Evans Drum Head, Zildjian Cymbal, ErgoSonic Percussion and Pearl Drum Companies. He has presented clinics at the Massachusetts Music Educators Association and Ohio Music Educators Annual Conferences and is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Massachusetts Music Educators Association, the National Association of Rudimental Drummers and is currently a member of the Marching Percussion Committee for the Percussive Arts Society.
