Michaelene holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA. Prior to college, she completed over ten years of extensive dance training at the Point Park University Conservatory, Pittsburgh Ballet Theater School, and Melodia Performing Arts Center. She is also a trained musician, privately studying the flute for several years, as well as performing with both her high school concert band and orchestra.


She began twirling the baton at the age of five. By the time she was ten, she was also spinning flag and rifle. Her performing credentials include the Golden Triangle Performance Ensemble (1975-1991; Junior Guard Captain: 1980-1982, Senior Guard Captain 1988-1991), Markette Winterguard (1982), and East Allegheny High School Visual Ensemble (1984-1987; Co-Captain 1986-1987). She performed extensively in many of her university’s concert dance productions (1987-1991). She was also a University of Pittsburgh Golden Girl (1987-1988).


Professionally, she performed at Kennywood Park and Geauga Lake, as well as in many local/regional productions. Following her graduation from Point Park University, she moved to Tampa, FL where she spent several seasons as a feature dancer at Busch Gardens. While there, she also served as Dance Captain.


Upon returning to her hometown of Pittsburgh, she spent the next several years teaching the Golden Triangle Performance Ensemble, East Allegheny High School Visual Ensemble, and Kiski Area High School Colorguard. She consulted with many other local high school and independent guards, as well as providing guest clinician support for the Three Rivers Winter Ensemble Association.


Her judging credentials include Massachusetts Judges Association, Musical Arts Conference, Carolina Winter Ensemble Association, USBands, Maine Band Directors Association, and Pennsylvania Federation of Contest Judges.
