With an extensive background in pageantry, Denise’s roots were firmly planted with both Drum Corps and Winter guard. Denise has taught, designed, managed, and directed drum corps and winter guards at the highest level of competition for several decades. Having achieved multiple gold medals in both Drum Corps and Winter Guard, Denise is well positioned to understand the skills being presented in the pageantry activity and has worked with some of the most talented designers and choreographers that continue to inspire the activity today.

Denise spent several years working as a member of the WGI task force when the current adjudication system was created. Having a hand in the creation of adjudication philosophy and implementation in its early years has allowed Denise to have an in-depth knowledge of the adjudication system.

Denise began her judging career in 2002 primarily focused on Equipment and has expanded to Visual Ensemble adjudication in recent years. Denise is a member of the Massachusetts Judges Association (MJA) and provides Visual Education for all members of MJA.

Professionally, Denise retired from MetLife where she was an officer of the company for 16 of her 35-year career. During Denise’s tenure at MetLife, her “hands on” approach brought her to the front-line managing Insurance Product Software Development, and Quality Assurance functions in several locations around the US and Canada. Throughout Denise’s career at MetLife, she was extensively involved in company mergers and acquisitions converting software Illustration systems onto MetLife platforms.

Denise recently retired as the CEO of Cadets Arts and Entertainment Inc., where she successfully created the non-profit start-up in support of The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps at the beginning of 2020. Mitigating COVID19 for three years and delivering a safe and successful Cadet Drum Corps in DCI’s first ever non-competitive season in 2021 was both challenging and rewarding. Denise successfully established structural roots for the Cadets to relocate to Erie PA and competitively positioned The Cadets for future success.

Denise is currently the Co-Founder and President of the Bonfiglio Foundation, a non-profit charitable organization. The Foundation’s philanthropic mission is to raise money to provide scholarships in honor of George and Patsy Bonfiglio. George Bonfiglio was a founding father of DCI and the first Chairman of the DCI Board.

Denise is an active Adjudicator for Winter Guard International, Massachusetts Judges Association, Musical Arts Conference, South Florida Winter Guard Association, and the Asian Marching Band Confederation.

Denise was inducted into the WGI Hall of Fame class of 2000, the Massachusetts Drum Corps Hall of Fame class of 2012, Drum Corps International Hall of Fame class of 2016, and the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame class of 2021.
